FAQ

GENERAL FAQ

  • Do you have a policy in place for COVID-19?

(October 2022 update) I am vaccinated + 2x booster, and am not requiring masks. However, if you prefer that I wear one, I am happy to do so.

  • What exactly is it that you do?

All of the services that I offer are designed to assist you in preparing for your new baby’s arrival. The process of creating a baby registry can be very overwhelming, even with the help of store employees, so I can help you narrow down each category and figure out which products are right for you. Car seat safety is another harrowing subject; as a CPST, I assist families with car seat education and installation, for all ages. I also offer assistance with other tasks like gear assembly, and setting up and learning about your baby carrier. For a list of services I offer, visit my Services & Pricing page.

  • What types of families do you help?

All of them! I cater to families from all walks of life. Whether this is your first baby, your second, or your 8th; whether your child is joining your family via adoption, surrogacy, or you’re the one giving birth; no matter your relationship status, your orientation, your gender, race, or religion, I would be honored to help you as you prepare for your new family member.

  • What types of payment do you accept?

I accept Venmo, PayPal, and Cash App. I can also take cash or a check.

  • What cities do you serve?

I currently serve the cities of Austin, Cedar Park, Leander, Pflugerville, and Round Rock. For those who live outside of these cities, please let me know and we can try to figure something out! A mileage fee will apply.

    • REGISTRY FAQ

  • When should I register?

It is completely up to you, but I recommend starting your registry at around 16-20 weeks. At this point, you will likely have found out the sex of the baby, which will help you with nursery theme/decor, gear colors, and clothing. If you are adopting, you may want to register sooner.

  • What should I expect from a registry consultation?

Our first step will be a conversation where you tell me all about you, your lifestyle, what you want to focus on, etc. I’ll use this information to create a “game plan,” so to speak. I can begin to narrow down and pinpoint what you’ll need, and what you won’t need, which will make our time in the store more efficient. Our in-store session is for up to two hours, and we’ll go around the store, department by department, and I’ll talk you through different products, demonstrate car seats and gear, and help you make decisions.

    CAR SEAT FAQ

  • What is a CPST?

A CPST is a child passenger safety technician. CPSTs are individuals trained in car seats, and safety in vehicles. All types of people get trained as techs: law enforcement officers, EMTs, doctors, nurses, CPS workers, stay-at-home parents, and in my case, just a person who is passionate about keeping kids safe in cars! In the US, CPSTs are certified through Safe Kids Worldwide.

  • Will you install my car seat for me?

Though I do make exceptions for special circumstances, my ultimate goal is that we end the appointment with you being confident that you can install your child’s seat by yourself.

  • Can’t I just take my car seat to the fire or police station?

There is a widespread myth that all police and EMTs are trained in car seat safety. While many techs are, in fact, police and EMTs, not all police and EMTs are techs.

As a tech who works independently, I am familiar with a wide variety of seats, and due to my experience in baby retail, I have an expertise that many others do not have.

  • What should I expect from a car seat appointment?

First, I will walk you through the ins and outs of your seat: its features, how to adjust settings, etc. My goal is to “de-mystify the manual.” During a pre-baby appointment, I will use a doll to teach you how to buckle your baby in.

Then, I will teach you how to install the seat. First I will install it, explaining as I go and then it will be your turn. We will do it as many times as it takes to get it right!

Finally, I will discuss various safety aspects with you, such as next steps, and answer any additional questions you may have.

For one car seat, expect to have the appointment last about 30 minutes to an hour. Additional seats will add more time.
